Culture Local News

Established exactly 36 years ago, on November 14, 1983, the Hungarian Association of Zoos is a professional organization comprising 13 Hungarian zoos and wildlife parks with the purpose of representing their interests, coordinating their various activities, and facilitate the exchange of information and data, thus promoting the development of the zoo profession in Hungary as a whole – this includes various annual conferences, workshops and meetings.

The great success of Hungarian zoos in contributing to global conservation and research and raising public awareness of such efforts is best illustrated by the fact that 8 of them are full members of EAZA, the most prestigious zoo association in Europe, putting them at the forefront of global conservation work, and that they interact with a total of 3.5 to 4 million visitors a year, conveying them the importance of understanding, loving and conserving nature and wildlife.
