Korea Day 2019 in Pécs

Culture University

International Spring is organized for the third time at the University of Pécs in order to celebrate the diversity of the more than 4000 international students from all over the world.

The programme starts with Asia Days, between 11th and 14th. 14th March is dedicated for Korea.

The year of 2019 is very important for the country because it is the 100th anniversary of the March 1st Movement and the establishment of Korea’s provisional government in Shanghai, China in 1919 during Japan’s 1910-45 colonial rule. Also, it is the 30th anniversary of the diplomatic relationship between Hungary and Korea.

On this day, the visitors can try the calligraphy, hanbok, the traditional Korean clothing, can participate in informative lectures, and in the end of the day visitors can enjoy the gayageum concert of Park Minji.

Between 11th and 14th, Korean movie screenings will be held at the Apollo Cinema. ‘I Can Speak’ is about one of the biggest issues in Korea which hasn’t been settled yet. ‘Anarchist from Colony’ and ’The Last Princess’ are based on real people and story, and some characters in ‘Assassination’, the eighth-highest-grossing movie in Korean film history with over 12.7 million admissions, were real Independence activists belonging to the provisional government.

The movies will be presented with original audio and English-Hungarian subtitles. Admission is free, registration is required only for movie screenings.
