Debrecen and the FBI: the common point

Local News

“Most of the search dogs of the Swiss mountain rescue team, the Italian and the German police and the FBI are provided by this kennel.”

Despite the constant care and medical treatment, Lusti („Lazy”) one of the dogs of DEKOM died a few months ago. Lusti’s incredible intelligence made him suitable not only for saving lives but also for tolerating being punched, poked, pulled around by children. In the training of the medical students, the exercises, the searches he participated as an equal, the DEKOM team treated him as a colleague.

A few days ago a new member arrived to DEKOM: Marci, the English bloodhound. DEKOM member Gábor Hegedűs said that Marci’s blood line itself commands respect:  “Most of the search dogs of the Swiss mountain rescue team, the Italian and the German police and the FBI are provided by this kennel. … One of their dogs disappeared in Hungary in 2009 and they asked for my help in the search. We found the dog 20 days later. They promised I could choose a puppy when I need one. … We took him from near Milan last weekend. He is 10 weeks old, almost fits into my palm. We’re going to wait for a few more weeks then start training him. …”

He will surely be there at the training of medical students in Hajdúszoboszló in April. Even the police seem to be interested in the skills of the bloodhounds. Gábor Hegedűs and his other bloodhound, Nasca (Lusti’s sibling) are going to the ORFK training center for a 2-day series of demonstrations this month.
